Space Energy
a new Generation power utility

About Space Energy

Space Energy
CSR and Sustainability
The overall Space Energy, Inc. philosophy the project's concept and operation will be of significant benefit to mankind and every aspect of Space Energy, Inc. will focus on ensuring the safest and most Sustainable, environmentally sensitive means of harnessing energy and delivering power to our customers.

Launch Aspects

Fuel All fuel usage will be closely monitored and minimised
Emissions We take full responsibility for all emissions (not just carbon) resulting from all operations. Space Energy will access best available advice to minimize emissions and will implement an offsetting program for all impacts where this is appropriate
Resource Consumption Space Energy will use renewable resources wherever practicable; new technologies and materials will be introduced with a precautionary approach to safety and environmental impacts
Noise All efforts will be made to minimize our noise nuisance; we will ensure our partners and suppliers adopt a similar approach
Ecosystems At all launches, the standard operating procedures will be applied to minimize impact on the natural environment
Traffic Congestion All efforts will be made working in conjunction with our operational partners to minimize the impact on local communities of traffic congestion for all stages of our operations

Ongoing Operations and Maintenance

Equipment Design Design issues will focus on resource minimization and will incorporate a full product life cycle analysis going not just cradle to grave, but from cradle back to cradle
Launches Our full range of CSR Launch attributes will be applied at every launch event, including those for maintenance
Operations and Maintenance Equipment Design The cradle to cradle philosophy will be applied to all designs for all aspects of our operations and maintenance equipment
Tools and Energy Use All equipment and energy used in the maintenance cycles will be assessed to minimise impacts from all stages of its life cycle
Manpower Issues Space Energy will comply fully with the UN Global Treaty on Human Rights, and require our suppliers and partners to do the same
Waste Left in Space A minimum amount of waste products and operational debris will be created by the Space Energy operations.

Manufacturing and Procurement

Supply Chain Sustainability The end-to-end supply chain for all SE operations will have the Crystal Globe benchmark applied in order to maximize the sustainability and effectiveness of all aspects of the operation
Material Selection Policies Material and supplier selection will be based on a range of criteria, featuring environmental, ethical and social considerations as well as delivered cost. A full supplier audit process will be implemented for the entire supply chain
Traceability of Materials The sustainability operating processes will include full batch traceability
Human and Labour Policy Aspects Space Energy will comply fully with the UN Global Compact on Human Rights, and require our suppliers and partners to do the same
Recycling Policies Space Energy will require suppliers to declare recycled material content for their products & will use commercial incentives to drive towards a target of zero waste
Component Design The Space Energy policy on cradle to cradle design will be applied to all direct suppliers. Space Energy will support & require direct suppliers to apply the same principles to all products at all tiers of the supply chain
Collaboration and Thought Leadership in Usage of Total Resource Overall resource consumption will be monitored as a key aspect of the sustainability and carbon footprint of the business. Space Energy will work with specialist advisers and academic institutions to remain at the forefront of thinking in resource consumption and application of alternative technologies

Office and Management Issues

Energy Policy The offices of Space Energy will be built and maintained using leading edge technology and materials design. Ongoing energy consumption will be minimized using smart metering technology in all areas. When working away from dedicated SE premises, the team will all use carbon efficient space, such as serviced offices with a focused environmental awareness policy
Travel Policy All travel by Space Energy employees will be monitored as per the carbon footprint statement. Video conferencing, webinars and virtual meetings will be used wherever possible in order to minimize travel. Consideration will be given to modal choices including a car policy, vehicle fuel type, size of vehicle, pooled or shared owner, standard of travel vs impact, etc.
Recycling of Office Waste A full recycling scheme for all office waste and related inputs will be implemented. There will be a target of zero land fill waste by 2010. This target has a limiting factor of the availability of recyclable products in a number of arenas, especially developing countries where there may need to be local exceptions
