 Insatiable demand
Over the last several years, the demand for energy and energy-related resources has increased at an alarming rate.
Now, with the continuing needs of the developed world, as well as the rapid growth of developing countries, the topic of energy is poised to shape the next two decades of global history.
The demand for electricity---the most utilized form of energy---represents one of the greatest obstacles for societal growth. In developing nations, the demand is particularly staggering: both China and India will need to increase their total electricity production capacity by approximately 4-5 times over the next 20 years in order to meet demand.
In fact, it is commonly cited that between them, China and India will be adding a large power plant (mostly coal) at an average rate of one per week for at least the next two decades.
Well grounded concerns over global warming, combined with the reducing supply and increasing price of oil, coal and other fossil fuels, have continued to advance the cause for cleaner, less costly energy sources. In a reflection of this trend, the record $3.4 billion venture capital firms invested in renewable energy projects in 2007 more than doubled to $8.4 billion in 2008.
Currently, the total market for ground-based renewable energy is estimated at over $590 billion annually, and projected to rise to over $1.8 trillion by 2030. Space Energy, Inc. will serve this growing market by providing consumers with clean, safe base-load power around the clock.
